An illustration I recently made in photoshop, I started sketching a face, which turned out as the most central character in the final illustration. Every now and then I picked up the drawing again while listening to a podcast en added elements to it, using adjustment layers to alter the colors of different parts, I ended up with the above. I like the somewhat mystical ambiance of this visual style. I suppose the light to dark background and back lighting are they key ingredients for that.
